What Colours to Wear with Khaki
Khaki is a wonderful muted tone for autumn style, and it fits in really well with this season’s relaxed military trend. However, sometimes it can be tough to choose what to wear with khaki; brown, black and grey always match, but sometimes life calls for a little added bright colour. Here are a few ideas on what to wear with your khaki swing dress, bodycon, cigarette trousers or blazer.
Rich, opulent jewel tones go incredibly well with khaki and make for a very vibrant outfit if you get the combination right. A pair of tailored khaki trousers teamed with a rich ruby red shirt is a winning combination, for example. You could also just add a splash of colour here and there with an all-over khaki outfit, such as a pair of emerald heels with a khaki dress. Khaki can be hard to wear with super bold primary colours such as postbox red or electric blue, but if you opt for warm jewel tones you can be sure the colour combinations will work.
Decadent gold and khaki together immediately create a luxurious military feel, so if you want to lift and brighten a khaki outfit a little just add a few gold accessories here and there. One of our khaki dresses, the Elayna, which is a really simple but elegant strappy swing dress, is the perfect khaki canvas to be adorned with gold strappy sandals and opulent gold bangles. For a more casual look, you could look out for a khaki blazer with gold buttons, or add a gold brooch or belt to a khaki trench coat; even the smallest dash of gold will add a luxe touch to your khakis.
For a delicate and pretty military style outfit, you can team khaki items with soft pastel colours, such as pale pink, lilac or mint green. If you’re worried that a khaki ensemble looks too harsh a touch of pastel will add a softer edge, whilst a super-girly pastel outfit can quickly be given a more sophisticated vibe with the addition of a khaki jacket. Try wearing a figure-hugging khaki midi skirt with a light pink fine knit jumper for a really simple and classic smart-casual look.
