Cecile Bardot Twist Cut Out Dress by Anita Kaushik
Everyone’s giving me the cold shoulder at the moment. Don’t worry though; it’s all in the name of fashion. Exposed shoulders have been all over the place throughout summer and they’re still here for autumn which is brilliant because I’m loving the trend. It’s really elegant but just a little sexy too, which is not surprising when you consider that it was inspired by 1960s bombshell Brigitte Bardot. The Cecile dress is all about the Bardot shoulders and I think it’s just fabulous!
As you’ve probably noticed with many of my Luxêmme pieces, I’m very much into high necks at the moment - as is the rest of the fashion industry - and thought it would be a fun twist to combine the Bardot style with a high neck. The result is a really unusual halterneck with a gorgeous oversized frill. I think it creates a really dramatic look and it’s brilliant to see an extra special feature on what is otherwise a classic Little Black Dress.
Since this dress is all about subtle sexiness I’ve given it a demure midi length and just a bit of tailoring around the middle to lightly skim the figure and create a gentle hourglass shape. This means it’s not too racy and suitable for dinner parties, weddings and other formal events. It also means it’s really flattering on all body types and incredibly easy to wear; just throw it on and you’ll instantly look a million dollars.
For a really elegant finish to this outfit I would add some black midi heels and a black clutch bag; you can’t go wrong it you keep it simple! If you do want to add a flash of colour go for a deep red manicure or luscious red lips. To dial up the glamour go for gold accessories instead because you can never fail with a black and gold combo. With the detailing around the neckline and shoulders there’s no need for a necklace, but you could add some chunky gold bangles for a really luxurious look.
