Laciann Elegant Lace Detail Playsuit by Anita Kaushik

I think the name says it all when it comes to this playsuit; it’s elegant, feminine and really sophisticated. I often think of playsuits as fun little party outfits but I reckon I’ve created the grown-up, formal version here! It’s got chic three quarter length sleeves, sleek tailoring in the body and a really gorgeous lace overlay – everything you’d expect from an elegant evening outfit.

Firstly, I want to talk about all of this lovely lace. I’m very used to seeing dense, busy patterns when it comes to lace playsuits and I think it’s a refreshing change to have a more delicate design on this one. On the sheer areas across the chest and down the sleeves the floral design really stands out and it’s so pretty. It gives the playsuit a really girly, feminine finish which I just love.

In fact, I think its details like this that really make this lace playsuit stand out; take the sleeves for example. On the autumn/winter catwalks this year we saw lots of bold, oversized cuffs and although the effect is really dramatic, it’s not very practical! I’ve taken the big cuffs trend and toned it down for the Laciann Playsuit. You’ll notice that the sleeves gently flare out for a bit of drama, but the lightweight material means they won’t get in the way and you can still get a coat or jacket over the top if you need to. The wide, solid black edging on the sleeves is mimicked on the hem of the playsuit too to round off the look.

In my mind due to its plunge neck and short cut, this playsuit works best when you add your favourite pair of black heels, a small clutch bag and nothing else; just get your legs out and head to the party! However, I know it can also work really well as a day outfit if that’s more your vibe. Wear some sheer black tights underneath, a pair of boots and a boxy, longline jacket for a really cool, casual look.
